We had a great Thanksgiving week - full of tons of fun and lots of visitors. We started off the week a visit from Godpapa Joey - always so good to see him. Sweet baby Charlie is due very soon and we're all eagerly awaiting his arrival! The girls had a wonderful time spending the evening with Joey.
Next up was the Magic City 5K with my Girls on the Run Team. I've been an assistant coach this past semester with Girls on the Run in Woodlawn and it's been wonderful to be back working with inner city youth - specifically girls. It was the coldest morning we'd had all fall (not sure I've ever been more happy to take off at the start line!), but it was glorious and all the girls finished (most running the entire time!) and were SO proud!
Later that afternoon we had pictures with Cain and Emma and Holiday Tea at the Gardens to raise money for Santa's Workshop - the YWCA's event for homeless families. Cain and Emma haven't had their photo taken professionally in several years and we wanted to be sure and capture our firstborns. Catherine Ellis and I had a wonderful time on our date to the tea - she thought it was the best thing ever!
Then Thanksgiving Day we headed to Jasper - the girls always have so much fun with their cousin, Carrigon, and of course seeing Aunt Stace, Aunt Stella and Gran and Pop. It was a gorgeous day - not a cloud in the sky so we spent as much time outside as we could. David and Sam have leased some duck hunting land in Mississippi and have lots of fun new toys these days - the Gator was the latest new toy (I understand a dog is next on the list!).
Thanksgiving night Coco came to spend the night with the Cain ladies since Daddy was duck-hunting. She brought a Christmas tree to decorate and it was a good time for sure.
The next morning Meme headed up to go to McWane Science Center with us. Winter Wonderland had just opened and we always love that exhibit. A great day!
The next day was the Auburn/Alabama game - and I just won't go there on the blog. You all know we're a house divided and bless David's heart, it's been a rough couple of weeks for him. The girls are fans of both teams - it just depends on how they are feeling that day - here's how they were feeling Saturday and yes, they both picked the team they wanted to wear, I promise.
We had a wonderful week - so very much to be thankful for indeed!
