We're constantly chasing daylight in our household .... I bet most of you are too! We love the time change and are SO happy that we have a few more hours of daylight to enjoy when we arrive home from a long day of work and school. Here is glimpse of what chasing daylight at the Cain house looked like this evening ... it all started with David watering the azaleas and ended with a bit of bliss on a Monday evening ...

Turning Two at the Zoo!
Catherine Ellis had her 2 year old birthday party at The Birmingham Zoo last Saturday - what a fabulous time she had! We had friends and family join us for the special occasion and even though it was the hottest day of the year yet - 92 degrees - every one had a blast! Thank you to all of our friends and family that joined us - it wouldn't have been the same without you! Warning: long post!
Not so sure about the gerbil
What's that lady? A ferret - one of Daddy's favorites and Mommy's least favorite:)
Warming up to the lizard (or whatever he is)
The only animal we petted

Happy 2nd Birthday!
Catherine Ellis is two today!! Where does the time go? We've got a big day with with a birthday party at the zoo this afternoon - so more later - but just wanted to say Happy Happy Birthday to our precious first-born! Mommy and Daddy can't believe it's been two years since your arrival into this world. What a joy you are - there is nothing in this world better than having a child (even when the going gets tough!). We love you Cat Cat!

What a difference a year makes! She's literally grown into a toddler right before our very eyes! Stay tuned for more from our fun-filled day!

Delightful
What a gorgeous weekend! This past week was yucky weather wise and Catherine Ellis had the stomach virus AGAIN ...... I swear that virus is like a magnet to her - or so it seems lately. We're all better now and got better just in time to enjoy the weekend! She was out of school two days and with the busy weeks David and I both have he spent the first day out and then my mother saved the day and came to stay with her on Friday .... thank you Meme! They had a delightful time together - we couldn't have done it without you Mama. As one of my friends said earlier this week "Thank goodness for Mamas!" - ain't that the truth!
Now on to the delightfulness of the weekend! Saturday was work in the yard day for Daddy and Catherine Ellis - what a delightful time she had (I don't know that David would call yard work delightful, but the weather was!)! Here are some shots of the two of them 'working':

Later that afternoon we headed to see Madeline play soccer - she's 3-years-old and this is her first season .... it's really a practice and coaching session, but still fun! We met some dear friends of mine from Auburn at the game ... it was so good to see everyone and for our kiddos to play together. Thanks for inviting us Madeline!
Looks like we might have a future soccer player! Uncle Double is thrilled ...

Madeline, Lilly and Catherine Ellis - CE is learning the ropes from these seasoned ladies!
How cute are they?
Lilly patiently waiting on CE to throw the ball ... please notice we are still holding 'the baby'
Finally! A toss to Lilly while holding the baby ... talent!
CE's new pink monkey back pack from Coco! She LOVES it! Thank you Coco!

We ended the outing with a visit to Brusters for ice cream - yummy! And a surprise visit from Aunt Coco and her Mom! Like I mentioned, it was a delightful day. Coco brought Catherine Ellis her birthday gift a little early .... it's a huge hit! Thank you Coco and Meme Lynn for stopping by to see us .... we love you both!!
