School pictures

We're still around - just been busy enjoying the season of Advent!  We Cains sure love some Advent and tend to overbook ourselves as most everyone else does this time of year.  Hope you are all enjoying this season as much as we are - the wonder, joy and awe awaiting the birth of our Savior is like no other.

The girls had school pictures several weeks ago and boy are they cute (and they look so grown up!)!  I was a bit worried that the photographers wouldn't be able to get Caroline to smile, but she did great and so did CE - who LOVES a camera these days (wonder why!?).

I am savoring every moment.  In light of the tragic events of the past week, like every other parent out there, I'm having a hard time shaking the devastation that I feel for the families that lost their loved ones.  Life is so precious and in the blink of an eye it can all change.  Perspective is always something that I work hard to keep and I vow to do a better job of savoring the moment.  I know we all do as parents.  May God provide those families with peace, strength and grace as they move forward without the most precious gifts in their lives.  There is a quote I keep in my inbox - at the top - to remind me daily of how easily I let these sweet (but certainly challenging) years pass me by:  I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done less.  May we all treasure the "doing" in life - living in the moment, thankful for each day, fully present no matter what circumstances come our way.
