Jolly Ole' Saint Nick

We had a great weekend this past weekend, even if it was a very busy one! David went hunting at my Dad's for the weekend so Meme came up to visit again and help with Catherine Ellis since I had to work on Saturday. We have Santa's Workshop annually and it's a treat - we serve over 100 moms and 300 children on one Saturday from 10:00 - 2:00 p.m. Our downtown offices are transformed into a Winter Wonderland and children make crafts in the gym - Mrs. Claus's kitchen has food crafts, making music CDs, purse making stations, bird house construction, pillows, and more - while the Moms shop for free in our shopping rooms. It's a wonderful reminder of how blessed we are and how many people in this world are still struggling. God has been so good to the Cain family and I'm so blessed to have a job that allows me to give back every day. So please continue to keep those who are struggling to make ends meet in your prayers this holiday season and daily.

One of the special things about Santa's Workshop is that Santa himself visits and sits on his mighty throne while the children stand in line and can't wait to tell Santa all the things they are wishing for this Christmas. I've been wanting Catherine Ellis to meet Santa, but we've not had a weekend that had enough time to stand in line at the mall - so this was the perfect opportunity to meet him in a more intimate setting. Meme brought her up midday to enjoy the fun and boy did she have fun. I was a little nervous since she's still recovering from RSV and teething - which has made her much fussier than normal. She's also going through a phase that only Mommy will do - if Mommy is around no one else can hold her. So, I was sure we were going to be one of those children that screamed and cried when we met Santa (just like her Daddy did!). Boy was I wrong! Enjoy:

Me & Santa last year - I couldn't see him, but I could hear him!

Mommy and Catherine Ellis testing out the chair (of course Mommy is talking!)

Maybe I'll let Santa sit here tomorrow!
I think I could get used to the idea of a throne in my house!

Warming up for my visit with Santa!

Mommy, I don't know who this guy is...

But I think I like him!

Of course I need a picture with the woman who makes it all happen!

Another great outreach project for our families was local, award-winning photographer Jason Wallis and his team - they came in, set up shop, and photographed all the families attending Santa's Workshop so they could have a family portrait for the holidays! What a treat! Of course we had a few snapshots made too:

What a wonderful way to spend the weekend! Thank you Meme for coming up to help us while Daddy was gone....we can't wait for Christmas to get here. We know a very special little girl that Santa is going to be very good to:) Merry Christmas y'all!
